Romantic Way to Pick Someone Up at the Airport
A two-day trip feels like forever when your loved one goes away without you. And if they’ve been gone two months, then your reunion at the airport will really be electric. Whether your partner just crossed state lines or is returning from the other side of the world for the first time, greeting them at the airport with something extra special shows them how much you missed them.
Travel in Style
In the past, it was simple to park your car, walk right up to a gate and greet someone as they exited the plane. Walking into an airport today, you won't get much farther than the front door with a ticket, so your reunion might take place curbside. Make a splash at airport pickup with a fancy car. Hire a limousine or town car for an hour or two to drive you to the airport for the pickup. Beyond the impact a luxury car will have on your sweetheart, you can focus on one another during the ride home instead of watching the road. If a car and driver isn't in your budget, ask your best friend to play chauffeur and decorate the windows of your car with welcome home messages.
Dress Up
Your loved one is probably used to seeing you in sweats, jeans, and work clothes when you pick her up from the airport. Standing at baggage claim dressed in your finest duds is a romantic way to get your sweetie's attention. Don your best clothes and bring along a garment bag with your partner's dressiest ensemble. Ask them to change in the lobby bathroom so you can stroll out of the airport together dressed to kill. However, if your partner is coming off a long trip or is particular about their appearance, they might appreciate a quick trip home so she can freshen up. Stow the bags in the trunk and head for an upscale restaurant for dinner and catching up.
Bring Gifts
Arriving at the airport with gifts in hand will dazzle your weary traveler. You can never go wrong with picking up a bouquet of flowers. If you and your partner are in a long-distance relationship, use your location as the inspiration for your gifts. Surprise them with some local goodies or tickets to a band they missed. If their family members live nearby, consider taking one of them with you for an added surprise.
Sign Your Love
If you don’t mind a few admiring stares, greeting your loved one with handmade welcome signs is a public declaration of love many will swoon for. Channel your inner child and decorate poster boards with markers and paint with messages like “Welcome back!” or “I love you!” Tape photos of the two of you together onto the signs to turn them into mementos your special person will keep forever. If you’re shy, write their last name on a small sign and hold it up while you stand in baggage claim as if you were a driver assigned to pick her up. In small letters on the back, write a note explaining how much you missed her and how much she means to you; in tiny print, your words will be visible only to her once the sign is in her hands.
