With tall peaks and spectacular scenery, Colorado is a logical place to try extreme sports like bungee jumping. Like an amusement park ride, adventure sports give you that adrenaline rush you’re searching for! Bungee experiences are open to the public during the summer for all the thrill-seekers to try out. Most operate as rides, such as the Bungee Jump at Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park, so to participate all you need to do is pay an admission fee and sign a waiver. For more traditional bungee jumping, you will have to book a trip with a private company. Here are some of the most popular bungee jumping locations near the Rocky Mountains!

Canon City

Canon City is home to the famous Royal Gorge Bridge and Park. There you can cross a quarter-mile suspension bridge that sits over the Arkansas River gorge. For the bungee experience, take a ride on the Royal Rush Skycoaster. The bungee swing sits 1,200 feet above the bottom of the gorge and drops its riders 100 feet, letting them fall at up to 50 mph before they bounce and swing above the canyon. Traditional bungee jumping is banned at the park, but invitation-only events such as the Go Fast Games have been held there in the past for bungee jumpers.

Glenwood Springs/Glenwood Canyon

Located near Aspen and Glenwood Springs, the Glenwood Canyon offers spectacular views and steep walls above the Colorado River. At Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park, there are two bungee attractions available for visitors. One is the Giant Canyon Swing, a bungee swing that accommodates up to four riders at a time. The ride will launch you 1,300 feet above the canyon floor at up to 50 mph. You must be 4 feet tall to experience this thrill. Fans of the traditional thrill can try the Bungee Jump, a free fall of 70 feet off a tower. Jumpers must weigh between 80 and 240 pounds and be able to climb the tower.

Steamboat

Steamboat is home to Steamboat Ski Resort. During the summer, it operates a bungee trampoline called the Slingshot Bungee Jump. You can ride if you weigh between 40 and 180 pounds. The ride lasts three minutes and is in a safe and controlled environment. It is part of the Coca-Cola Adventure Zone, which is open during the summer when the slopes are closed.

Other Ski Resorts

Like the Steamboat resort, other ski areas utilize their grounds during the summer for other activities. Vail, Breckenridge and Copper Mountain are open in the summer and have trampoline bungee rides that are open to kids and adults.

Other Destinations Available With Private Reservations

You can book a private party with a tour company if you would like an out-of-the-ordinary bungee jumping experience. Luxergy is an outdoor extreme sports company that books private bungee jumping trips out of several Colorado cities, including Aurora, Boulder, Colorado Springs, Denver, Fort Collins, Greeley, Loveland, Pueblo and Thornton.
