The Delta Airlines Rules for a Carry on with Women's Makeup
Understanding Delta Airline’s and the Transportation Security Administration’s carry-on policies before packing for your flight can help you avoid any hold-ups, allowing for swift and efficient travel when reaching airport security points. Makeup bags can store a number of toiletries from sharp grooming items to personal care liquid substances. Delta Airlines follows TSA regulations, restricting the type of products and limiting the amounts allowed in carry-on makeup bags.
Carry-On Size
Womens' makeup bags must fit within the Delta Airlines baggage-size regulations whether carried on or contained in carry-on luggage, so that they can be stowed in overhead bins during flight. Delta Airlines requires that the make-up bag or carry-on luggage must not exceed 45 linear inches, with a maximum size of 22 inches in length, 14 inches in width and 9 inches in height.
Liquid Toiletries
Liquid personal-care items that might be stored in a makeup bag include shaving cream, nail polish, nail polish remover, mascara, foundation, bronzer, lotion, ointments, facial cleanser, makeup remover, mouthwash, toothpaste, perfume, cologne and hair care products. Such fluid items must be in a 3.4 oz. or smaller container without exceeding a total of 32 oz., when carried on, or need to be stored in check-in luggage at the Delta Airlines check-in counter, in keeping with TSA rules. Women may consider swapping liquid products for powder compact versions and cleansing towelettes when flying on Delta Airlines if their liquid products exceed the restrictions.
Preparing for Security
Delta Airlines, in accordance with TSA regulations, requires that the liquid contents of makeup bags be stored in one clear 8-by-7.5-inch. plastic, zipper-lock bag per traveler. The products should be removed from the carry-on makeup bag and placed in a plastic bin for security personnel to check at the security checkpoint. Exceptions to the rule include saline solution, eye drops, which be carried on in larger quantities, if necessary, and do not need to be secured in a zipper-lock bag.
Sharp Items
Delta Airlines, in accordance with TSA policies, does not allow razors in carry-on makeup or bags or luggage. The rules, however, allow scissors with less than a 4-inch blade such as nail scissors and clippers.
